Phase 4 of Glenwood Complete Streets Project to begin July 30
Intersection of Minnesota Avenue/Franklin Street will re-open to traffic on Thursday
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Motorists on Highways 28/29 in Glenwood will encounter a new detour starting Monday, July 30, as crews begin removing pavement, and replacing utilities and sidewalks.
The work is part of the Glenwood Complete Streets project. This fourth phase of the project involves closing Highway 28/Minnesota Avenue, from the Franklin Street intersection to Fourth Street East. Traffic will be detoured to Franklin Street, First Avenue North and Seventh Street East. There will be some parking restrictions along the detour routes to accommodate traffic movements.
Weather permitting, the fourth phase of the project is expected to last up to 12 weeks.
As crews finish up Phase 3 this week, the intersection of Highway 28/Minnesota Avenue and Highway 29/Franklin Street will re-open on Thursday, July 26. Once the intersection is re-opened, all construction work will cease through Sunday for Glenwood’s Waterama celebration.
Upon overall project completion, motorists will experience a smoother road surface; pedestrian accessibility improvements, including upgraded sidewalks and curb ramps; utility upgrades; and flood mitigations on Highway 28 near the Pope County Fairgrounds.
