I-90 lane closures in Austin begin Monday, July 16 for bridge painting
AUSTIN, Minn. – Motorists on Interstate 90 will encounter lane closures and short delays beginning Monday, July 16 as crews paint the 11th Drive NE Bridge in Austin, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Motorists will be restricted to single-lane traffic in both directions on I-90 near exit 179 in Austin. Those lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day during the work and will reopen at night. Traffic on the 11th Drive NE Bridge will not be affected. Weather permitting, work is expected to be completed by Friday, July 20.
This work is part of the project that replaced the bridge in 2017. The 11th Drive NE Bridge was widened to accommodate two 12-foot lanes, two 8-foot shoulders and a 10-foot sidewalk. Lunda Construction is the prime contractor for the $2.97 million project.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
