Hwy 52 lane closures begin Aug. 13 in Rochester for concrete barrier preservation work
ROCHESTER, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 52 between 65th Street and the Highway 63 interchange will encounter lane closures beginning Monday, Aug. 13 as crews preform preservation work on the concrete median barrier, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Highway 52 will remain open during the duration the work, but the inside passing lane will be closed to allow crews room to work on the concrete barrier. Signs will be posted and orange cones will surround the work zone to alert motorists of the upcoming traffic impact.
Crews will wash the concrete median barrier to remove debris and spray it with a sealant surface treatment to preserve the concrete and help it last longer. Crews will also add new reflectors to the concrete median barrier.
DeAngelo Brothers Inc. of Hazelton, Pa., is the prime contractor for this $348,000 project. Construction work should be completed by late September.
Motorists should always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
