No travel advised in portions of South Central Minnesota

Heavy snow, strong winds, and limited visibility creating hazardous travel conditions

MANKATO, Minn. – (7:00 p.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation advises no travel on several state highways and Interstate 90 in south central Minnesota due to strong winds causing blowing snow and limiting visibility.

The no travel advisory includes several state highways and I-90 in the following counties:  Jackson, Cottonwood, and Nobles. Highways in these counties are snow and slush covered, and slippery.

No travel advised means that the roadway has deteriorated and/or visibility has been reduced to the point that it is very dangerous to travel. Motorists are advised not to travel in these areas until conditions improve.

Additional travel advisories are likely as conditions deteriorate further. Motorists should monitor www.511mn.org for current road conditions and plan accordingly with an emergency supply kit and clothing for extreme cold if they need to travel.
