Hwy 12 east of Ortonville to reopen

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. —(8:30 a.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation will reopen U.S. Highway 12 east of Ortonville today, Wednesday, July 2, by 9 a.m. A section of the road has been closed since last week due to flooding and rising water levels at Horseshoe Lake.

Water levels are receding, but remain at the edge of the driving lanes and motorists should travel with caution.

MnDOT urges travelers in this area to be alert for potential road flooding due to additional precipitation in the upcoming holiday weekend forecast. The highway could close again if water poses a safety hazard to motorists. Areas that have water on the road or are closed because of flooding are marked on MnDOT’s road conditions map www.511mn.org.
