Westbound Highway 36 auxiliary lane closes for repairs, resurfacing between Hamline Avenue and Snelling Avenue in Roseville June 28-July 3

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – As the second weekend closure on westbound Hwy 36 begins this weekend from 9 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. Monday, July 1, crews will keep the auxiliary lane between Hamline Ave. and Snelling Ave. in Roseville closed after westbound Hwy 36 reopens Monday morning.

The westbound Hwy 36 auxiliary lane that serves as an entrance from Hamline Ave. and exit to Snelling Ave. will remain closed, along with the ramps, so crews can continue repairs and resurfacing. The entrance/exit lane along with the two ramps are expected to reopen by 9 p.m. Wed, July 3.

During the lane and ramp closures, traffic will use Lexington Ave. east of Hamline Ave. or Fairview Ave. west of Snelling Ave. to travel to westbound Hwy 36 or Snelling Ave.
And just a quick reminder: There will be no work on Hwy 36 on the weekend of July 6-7 due to the July 4 holiday. However, there will be closures the following weekends until the weekend before the Minnesota State Fair. Additional information will be shared on upcoming Hwy 36 weekend closures as details become available.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change.
More about this project

Repairs and resurfacing is underway on nearly six miles of Highway 36 between I-35W in Roseville and Edgerton St. in Little Canada along with additional improvements. Resurfacing of aging pavement will provide a smoother ride for motorists and extend the life of the existing roadway.

A new auxiliary lane from southbound I-35W to eastbound Highway 36 will provide more distance for drivers to safely merge onto eastbound Highway 36 which will ease traffic flow and reduce congestion. Reconstruction of the ramp from northbound Cleveland Ave. to eastbound Highway 36 and extending the merge lane onto eastbound Highway 36 will provide more time for drivers to safely merge into traffic. Improved drainage will also help channel water to prevent pavement damage from flooding and weather events. The project is anticipated to be complete in late September.
