Highway 14 Minnesota River bridge project moves to final stage of construction July 2; ramps open to traffic

MANKATO, Minn. – The final stage of the construction on the Highway 14 Minnesota River Bridge project in Mankato is expected to begin Tuesday, July 2, weather permitting, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Entrance and exit ramps at Highway 169, Lor Ray Drive, and Lookout Drive are planned to open to traffic Tuesday afternoon, July 2. The head-to-head traffic restriction in the westbound lanes will be removed, along with the 55 MPH speed limit restriction.
Motorists should expect shoulder and lane closures until the completion of the project in mid-July, weather permitting.

Project benefits, cost

Work on the Highway 14 Minnesota River bridge is a concrete mill and overlay preventative maintenance project to extend the life of the bridge. Benefits of the project include improved pavement for a smoother bridge surface and increased safety. PCiRoads was awarded the project with a bid of $1,679,992.74.
