Public invited May 28 to Hwy 14 Stockton Hill construction open house

STOCKTON, Minn. – The public is invited to attend a public information meeting on May 28 in Stockton to meet the Highway 14 Stockton Hill construction contractor as the project prepares to begin, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

People can drop by from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28 at the Stockton Community Center, 8600 D St. N. in Stockton. No formal presentation is planned. People can come and go on their schedule. If you attend the meeting, you can talk with construction project managers, ask questions and receive information about the project. The project website will be updated with information from the meeting.

Beginning June 2, a MnDOT contractor, Mathiowetz Construction Co. of Sleepy Eye, Minn., will be repairing the Stockton Hill slope and improving drainage on Highway 14. The shoulder of the road will be widened, and guardrail will be replaced. The project is scheduled to be complete in November.

Highway 14 between Winona and Stockton will be detoured during construction, but residents and businesses will be able to access their properties. Thru traffic will not be allowed to ensure safety of the workers. Thru traffic will be detoured.

The detour from the west will direct motorists north on Winona County Road 23 at Stockton to Highway 61 at Minnesota City.
