Wadena construction kick-off meeting set for June 2
BAXTER, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the Wadena community to a construction kick-off meeting for the Highway 10, 29 and 71 improvements on Monday, June 2.
The drop-in style event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 2, at the Maslowski Wellness and Research Center, 17 Fifth St. SW, Wadena. A formal presentation will not be given; guests can stop by at their convenience.
The MnDOT project team, along with the prime contractor, Mathiowetz Construction, will be available to answer questions about construction and local impacts, including a timeline and detours.
This is the first of a three-year, $52 million project that will expand Highway 10 through Wadena to four lanes, plus resurface and improve Highways 29 and 71. Prep-work is underway, and crews plan to begin construction in full swing in early June.
When complete in August 2027, travelers will benefit from a smoother, stronger and expanded four-lane highway; improved safety, access and traffic flow through Wadena; and updated underground infrastructure and city utilities.
