Highway 37 work near Cherry traffic control change

DULUTH, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation has started work on intersection improvements on Highway 37 at County Road 137/Spirit Lake Road and County Road 661/Fraser Road. This project will widen the highway to add left and right turn lanes.

There is no access to Spirit Lake Road from Highway 37 through July 23, and traffic will be detoured on to County Road 447/Tamminen Rd to County Road 452/Iron Junction Road, and back to Spirit Lake Road. Through traffic on Highway 37 will be maintained for the entire project.

Additionally, an unrelated sealcoat project will take place on Highway 37 between Highway 169 and Highway 53 between June 27 and July 2. There will be two days of work, one to place a first layer followed by a day or two later to place an additional seal on top of that. Traffic impacts will be only during daytime work hours and will require flaggers and a pilot car. The date range is due to weather contingency and coordination with the other work. There will be no impacts to traffic on Sunday.
