Highway 14 slope repair project in Balaton begins Aug. 1
WILLMAR, Minn. – A slope repair project on Highway 14, near the southwest end of Lake Yankton in Balaton, begins Friday, Aug. 1, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Crews will upgrade drainage systems, install curb and gutter, construct a new pavement shoulder, and install new guardrails.
Starting Friday, traffic will be shifted one lane and use the shoulder opposite of where the work is taking place as a driving lane. Travelers are asked to slow down in the work zone and be alert for workers and heavy equipment entering/exiting the area.
Work is expected to conclude Aug. 22, depending on weather and other unforeseeable circumstances. Town & Country Excavating, LLC, is the contractor, and the project cost is approximately $307,000.
