Twin Ports Interchange ribbon cutting ceremony planned Oct. 6

DULUTH, Minn.
WHO: The Minnesota Department of Transportation and state and local leaders
WHAT: Ceremonial ribbon cutting event to mark the completion of the Twin Ports Interchange project in Duluth. Remarks from state and local leaders will be provided along with refreshments, followed by a walk up the exit ramp to the bridge deck for an official ribbon cutting.
WHERE: Duluth, MN - underneath the newly built Highway 53 bridge located at 20th Avenue West and 1st Street.
WHEN: 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 6.
In the days following the event, ramp connections between Highway 53/I-35/I-535 will open for the first time since 2021. Safety improvements include a new conventional design, the elimination of left exits, improved merging sight distance, the elimination of blind merges, and increased lane continuity. In addition to enhanced safety, the project replaced aging infrastructure and will allow for better freight movement through the Twin Ports to support the transportation of goods to people throughout the region.
