Hwy 74 detoured at bridge in St. Charles Oct. 6-11 for drilling work
ST. CHARLES, Minn. – Motorists on Hwy 74 will be detoured north of Hwy 14 in St. Charles Oct. 6-11 while crews complete drilling work to evaluate the bridge for future construction planning, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Motorists will not be able to cross the bridge during the week while the equipment remains on the bridge.
People traveling on Hwy 74 north toward Whitewater State Park will be detoured north on Whitewater Street from Hwy 14 and then west on First Street West to Hwy 74. Motorists traveling south will follow the route in reverse.
The work is in preparation for the Hwy 74 St. Charles bridge replacement, which is scheduled for construction in 2027. The bridge crosses the South Fork Whitewater River in St. Charles.
