MnDOT to host March 5 public open house for future Highway 71 reconstruction in Sauk Centre
ST. CLOUD, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the community to a public open house on March 5 to learn about the future reconstruction of Highway 71 in Sauk Centre.
Date: Thursday, March 5, 2026
Time: 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Location: Sauk Centre City Hall, 320 Oak St. South, Sauk Centre
Attendees will be able to learn about the project and view preliminary design plans, which includes two roundabouts, intersection and crossing improvements, a shared‑use path and underground utility work. A formal presentation will not be given; guests may stop by at any time to visit with project staff and ask questions.
MnDOT plans to reconstruct Highway 71 in 2028-2029 to improve pedestrian and motorist safety, construct a smoother roadway surface, reduce congestion and improve traffic flow, install new curb and gutter and storm sewer, and replace underground utilities.
