I-35 southbound to close at Albert Lea by 3 p.m.; Iowa closing road to south
MnDOT advises no travel on SE Minnesota state highways
ROCHESTER Minn. (10 a.m.) – The Minnesota Department of Transportation will close Interstate 35 southbound at Albert Lea by 3 p.m. today when Iowa intends to close I-35 to the south at that time.
MnDOT will keep the southbound highway closed until it reopens in Iowa.
Additionally, MnDOT has issued a no travel advisory for southeast Minnesota.
The no travel advisory is for the 11-county region in southeast Minnesota, MnDOT’s District 6: Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Goodhue, Houston, Mower, Olmsted, Rice, Steele, Wabasha, and Winona.
Similar no travel warnings have been issued for state highways to the west of District 6 in southern Minnesota.
Snowplows are having difficulty in current conditions but remain on the roads at this time. Current rates of snow are covering roads faster than snowplows can clear a driving lane.
Motorists can review travel conditions via 511mn.org . You can also check the X page and the MnDOT Southeast Facebook group.
