MnDOT to host public open house April 7 in Cyrus for Hwy 28 resurfacing project between Morris and Starbuck
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend a construction open house on Tuesday, April 7, from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Cyrus City Hall and Community Center (126 W. Main St., in Cyrus) to learn more about this year’s road work on Highway 28 between Morris and Starbuck.
There will be no formal presentation, and people are welcome to stop by at their convenience during the open house. MnDOT construction staff will be available to answer questions about the project, construction timelines, and detour routes.
The project includes resurfacing, culvert replacements and other highway safety improvements on Highway 28 from Pomme de Terre River bridge east of Highway 59 near Morris to John Street in Starbuck. As part of this project, crews will replace sidewalks and city utilities in the city of Cyrus.
Construction is expected to begin in May, with thru-traffic detoured through October 2026, weather permitting.
Mark Sand and Gravel, Co., based in Fergus Falls, is the prime contractor for the $13.5 million project.
