I-90 lane closures begin March 23 to prepare for construction between Dakota, Nodine

NODINE, Minn. – Interstate 90 motorists will experience lane closures beginning March 23 between Dakota and Nodine in Winona County as crews prepare for construction to begin in early May, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

The lane closures are for ditch cleaning and tree removal adjacent to the highway.

Here’s what to expect:

Westbound I-90

  • Single‑lane traffic with intermittent right and left lane closures begin March 23 for ditch cleaning. Work is expected to continue through April 3.
  • Crews will return April 13–18 for tree removal, requiring additional lane closures.

Eastbound I‑90

  • A right-lane closure begins March 30 for ditch cleaning and is expected to remain in place through April 10.
  • Crews will return April 13–24 for tree removal, requiring additional lane closures.

The I-90 resurfacing, bridge replacement construction project will begin May 4. Lane closures will return and remain in place through late fall. Eastbound lanes are anticipated to reopen before westbound as work progresses.

A public information meeting will be scheduled in April to discuss construction plans. Paving  and a detour of a county road and highway ramp are planned during a bridge replacement are part of the project.
