Interstate 35E Parkway median landscaping project begins next weekend with restriping

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Restriping of the Interstate 35E Parkway between West 7th Street/Highway 5 and Grand Avenue, west of downtown St. Paul, will begin Friday evening, April 24, to prepare for major landscaping, announced the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Workers will restripe the roadway each night between the hours of 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following morning from Friday, April 24 through Tuesday morning, April 28.

During the restriping, motorists are advised to watch for workers and equipment along the inside lanes in each direction of the interstate. The temporary striping will shift traffic away from the center median to provide adequate space for work on the landscape.

Landscaping will begin on Monday, April 27. Landscapers will remove vegetation being saved, spray herbicide to kill remaining plants and prepare the soil for replanting. The project includes removing the existing arbors/trellises. After the new plantings are complete in late June, the roadway will be restriped to its original configuration.

In case of inclement weather, restriping will be rescheduled.
