Highway 28 between Morris and Starbuck closes Monday for construction

DETROIT LAKES, Minn.— Starting Monday, May 11, weather permitting, Highway 28 between Morris and Starbuck will close for road construction, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Thru-traffic will be detoured until October.
The project includes resurfacing and replacing culverts on Highway 28 between Highway 59 near Morris and John Street in Starbuck, as well as replacing utilities and sidewalk in the city of Cyrus.

For access to Cyrus, local traffic should follow the detour and from County Road 18 use County Road 3 to enter Cyrus from the south. Phased closures will take place in Cyrus for utility replacements.

Access to residences and businesses along Highway 28 will be maintained, but residents and other local traffic should expect some restrictions in the areas crews are working. Please slow down, and watch for workers, trucks and heavy equipment when traveling through the work zone. If you don’t have a destination on Highway 28, please use the detour.

Construction activities and traffic impacts are weather dependent and subject to change.
Mark Sand & Gravel, based in Fergus Falls, Minn., is the prime contractor for the $14 million project. For more information and to sign up to receive project email updates, visit the project website mndot.gov/d4/projects/hwy28morris-starbuck.
