Disclaimer

This site is an access point to MnDOT’s agency-wide Bentley Systems Inc.-based CADD resources and information for using our Bentley ProjectWise system to access project data.

Consultant partners are directed to their MnDOT contract and its project manager regarding which CADD Standard applies to specific deliverables. Use of these standard workspaces allows designers to create CADD documents that adhere to MnDOT publication standards for engineering plans. The ProjectWise system may only be accessed by MnDOT staff and external partners who have obtained an access authorization from their MnDOT Project Manager.

Bentley, Bentley ProjectWise and Bentley CONNECT Edition OpenRoads are trademarks of Bentley Systems Incorporated and are used here for specificity and clarification only.

Bentley CONNECT Edition

MnDOT’s current version of OpenRoads Designer CONNECT Edition is 23.00.01.11, implemented in October 2024. Use our standards and tech sheets to help you design CADD documents that adhere to our publication standards for engineering plans:

  • MnDOT CADD standards CONNECT Edition workspace (Zip): Download MnDOT’s Bentley CONNECT Edition based cells, fonts, line styles, seed files, dgnlibs, etc. - last updated in December 2025

ProjectWise external client access

Anyone authorized to access MnDOT data through our Bentley ProjectWise system must be aware of our information and practices.

A Bentley license is required for external partners using MnDOT ProjectWise. As of May 8, 2021, every external project partner connecting to MnDOT’s ProjectWise system must provide their own Bentley License and software.

Get a small user base or short-term license at Bentley Virtuosity for Project Delivery.

Bentley also offers larger corporate license products. You will need to work with Bentley to determine which license type best fits your needs.Bentley’s “ProjectWise Explorer Virtuoso Subscription” generally allows the following:

    • Install of a desktop ProjectWise Explorer (PWE) client
    • Access to ProjectWise – but not use of other Bentley software

MnDOT’s ProjectWise servers and files are on-premise and not in the cloud. Stipulate to Bentley that any license you would get should allow you to install a Bentley ProjectWise Explorer desktop client and use it to connect via a Gateway (Current ProjectWise ver.10.00.03.434).

For external partners that have ProjectWise Explorer, here are the steps to configure your ProjectWise network settings to see MnDOT's data sources:
